About the Chamber

The Belle Glade Chamber was established in 1938. Currently, there are over 200 businesses and individuals who make up the membership.

The Belle Glade Chamber of Commerce holds it's Chamber Breakfast meeting every third Wednesday of the month, September through May (unless otherwise posted) at 7:30am at Lakeside Medical Center. A complimentary breakfast is served to Chamber members and their guests. Each meeting features a local expert speaking on the topic that coincides with the Leadership Glades class taking place that month. These topics about the Glades communities include education and cultural arts, business and economy, health and human services, agriculture and agribusiness, government and judicial systems, environment and water management. Businesses and individuals are welcome to join the Chamber by filling out the application online (click here for the application) or at the Chamber office. A sliding scale fee is charged according to the number of employees and whether or not the company is a for-profit or a not-for-profit. Potential businesses from outside the Belle Glade area are also welcome to join and have the same benefits as local members. All business members are permitted to have one insert a year in the monthly Chamber Newsletter at no charge. A second insert within 12 months of the first insert will cost $35. Chamber members are welcome to attend the monthly Chamber Breakfast, the Holiday Mixer in December, and participate in the Chamber Awards Banquet in October and the Chamber Annual Golf Tournament in May. They are encouraged to display their literature at the Chamber office and their business cards on our business card wall.

 

About the Chamber Board

The Belle Glade Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors is made up of 12 members serving a three year term. A second three year term can also be served before a board member must vacate their seat for at least one year.

All Chamber members in good standing are eligible to have their name submitted for an open seat on the Board of Directors. Nominations are accepted in May of each year. Seated board members vote on the slate of potential new board members in June and the new board is sworn in at the September meeting.

Each board member is expected to attend monthly meetings held on the second Thursday of the month. Board members are expected to participate on the board by selling any raffle tickets, Chamber Banquet tickets, or participate in other fundraising efforts. They are asked to participate by serving on committees as appointed by the Chamber President.
